How do you get a snake from a tree? You shoot it out of course.

Today I read a story that really pissed me off.

In Noble, Oklahoma a resident called the police to report a large snake in a tree.

Why they gave a damn about a snake being in a tree was beyond me. Two officers responded to the scene and tried various means to dislodge the snake, but the snake remained firmly lodged in the tree, hissing at the people who were messing with it.

Then one of these geniuses decided that they would shoot it out of the tree. They shot once and missed...shot a second time and they made a killing. It wasn't the snake they managed to kill though, it was 5 year old Austin Haley who was fishing at a nearby lake with his Grandfather. Of course they are "investigating". They haven't released the cop who fired the shot's name. He's on PAID administrative leave.

So you shot a little boy and you're on a paid vacation. Sweet.

If a regular person had killed a child trying to shoot a damn snake out of a tree they would be sitting in a jail cell charged with negligent homicide, abuse of a child resulting in death, involuntary manslaughter, with their name, address and mugshot plastered all over the news...but this cop, who should know better, kills a child and is on a paid vacation with his identity protected. To me that is absolutely sickening.
