Love Thy Neighbor

In 1999, Steven and Donna Graham started having marital problems and by 2000 Steven had moved out of the house that he owns with his wife, and into a car parked in the back yard. Power siphoned from the house via an extension cord allows Steve to enjoy the pleasures of television, radio and an oscillating fan from the comforts of his home...i mean car.

Seems like the ideal life doesn't it? I mean Steven doesn't seem bitter at his circumstances, he understands that his wife didn't want to support his no job having, laze around the house doing nothing lifestyle.

Steven eats, sleeps, relaxes, watches tv, listens to loud music and plays his guitar in the car...his neighbors, the Sanders, say everything one does in their house, Steven does in his car or the back yard. And therein lies the problem. According to the Sanders for the past 7 years Steven has been living in the backyard and using said black yard as his toilet. He burns waste that wafts with the aroma of burning excrement.

They have called the police on him several times and are trying to get a law passed to prevent this type of living arrangement. The Sanders had been the only neighbors that had a problem with Steven's uncommon living situation, but they say all that is going to change as more families with children move into the area.

For the record Steven, who according to the Sanders never goes into the house, says that he does not use the backyard as his toilet facilities...
"No, I go elsewhere," he said. "I don't expose myself to people."
